Honda to debut 2019 Insight Prototype at North American International Auto Show

As expected from a new Honda, the 2019 Insight will come with a host of technology features.

At the 2017 North American International Auto Show, Honda announced its Honda Electrification Initiative and the intention to make two-thirds of its global vehicle sales to be electrified vehicles by 2030, including hybrid, plug-in hybrid, battery electric and fuel cell vehicles. Although details of the propulsion system won't be confirmed until the show, it's nearly certain the new Insight will feature the latest version of Honda's Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) hybrid powertrain. Launching nationwide later this year, and positioned as a premium compact above Civic in the Honda passenger vehicle lineup, Insight elevates itself above other compact hybrid models with its sleek sedan design, roomy five-passenger cabin, and refined driving performance, along with high fuel efficiency. Essentially, it is the same 1.5-liter Atkinson-cycle 4-cylinder gasoline engine and 2-motor system used in the new Honda Clarity plug-in hybrid, sans the plug.

We got our first look at the Honda Insight Prototype late past year, and here are more details and official images of the all-new hybrid model ahead of its world debut at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit next week.

According to Honda the long wheelbase platform allows Honda to offer class-leading passenger space and will also integrate both apple CarPlay and Android Auto with Wi-Fi-enabled over-the-air system. Honda says the Insight will operate exclusively under electric power in most situations, with the engine acting as a generator when necessary. In the Clarity, this powertrain delivers a combined output of 212 horsepower-103 hp from the gas engine and 181 from the electric motor-but the Insight could hierarchically be slightly less powerful. The hybrid batteries located under the rear seats provides for a full-size trunk with the flexibility of available 60/40 split and folding rear seats. We're thinking about 150 to 160 hp, which would be higher than its rivals.

Wissam Ben Yedder, after 31 minutes, and Joaquin Correa in the 54th minute, were on target for Vincenzo Montella's team. Ernesto Valverde recalled his big guns for the second leg as Messi , Suárez, and Iniesta were named in the starting 11.

Inside the new Insight, there will be optional perforated leather seating.

The all-new third-gen Insight that will debut in prototype form in a matter of days will ditch the Prius look entirely, instead offering the shape and packaging of a four-door sedan with a premium look and feel.

Rolling off the same IN production lines as the Civic, its maker was careful to say that it used parts sourced "both domestically and globally".
