Trump Attending College Football's Championship Game

Officials shut down Mercedes-Benz Stadium about 5:45 p.m. EST when Trump was on his way, leaving thousands of fans (and some media members) stranded in the rain until the president was inside the stadium.

Still, they said, "we will not let the President's visit go without a response". Another sign in the group read, "Time's Up". Trump has been highly criticical of NFL players and other athletes who have taken a knee during the national anthem as a movement against police brutality and racism.

"We are getting the message out across the country to everyone that is agonizing and very angry and fearful of the fact that we are facing down a fascist regime and it needs to be stopped", Stern told The Associated Press.

USA TODAY confirmed last week that Trump plans to attend Monday night's game as a guest of Nick and Jamie Ayers; Nick Ayers is Vice President Mike Pence's chief of staff. Trump also attended the Army-Navy football game in 2016, after he was elected but before he was inaugurated as president.

In the aftermath, Arab states have said they will push for worldwide recognition of east Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital. Jerusalem's status has always been one of the main obstacles to a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians.

For hours earlier Monday, as light rain fell off and on, there had been no anti-Trump protesters in sight.

Atlanta's NAACP chapter said on its Facebook page that it wants fans inside the stadium for the College Football Playoff title game to wave white towels "simulating a blizzard".

The NAACP said wearing white is meant to mock the "snowflake" label Mr Trump's supporters use to describe their opponents.

The NCAAP in Atlanta also plans on having a Twitter movement begin at 6 p.m. ET, where the hashtag #AllTrumpsLies will be used to broadcast the lies they say Trump has told to the public.
