Alex Bowman: Wins Daytona 500 Pole

Dale Earnhardt Jr. might be gone, but his No. 88 Nationwide Chevrolet looks like it's in good hands with new driver Alex Bowman - and could very well be a threat to win the first post-Junior Daytona 500.

Kyle Larson rounded out the top five in the No.42 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet at 199.468 miles per hour. Stenhouse won two plate races last season, at Talladega in the spring and at Daytona in July. He also finished on the lead lap in seven of his 10 starts. Something to watch will be how fast Fords are going to be in the Daytona 500, as the quickest Ford in qualifying was Kevin Harvick in eighth. In fact, a pole victor hasn't won the race since Dale Jarrett in 2000. Only the front row was locked in during Sunday's qualifying session, with the remainder of the 40-car field being set at the 150-mile Can-Am Duels races on Thursday.
