Alliance with Rajinikanth unlikely if his colour is saffron, says Kamal Haasan

Haasan launched a website to enable people to register ideas and ignite discussions. He said this at the annual Indian conference of the prestigious Harvard University while addressing. Hassan said, "My politics will definitely not be saffron."But he didn't deny an alliance from other parties, as when he was pressured by Journalist Barkha Dutt, he said that he could try to reach out to people". "We both want to do good for people but I prefer to do it in a certain way", said Kamal, who reiterated that his color is black indicating that he is a rationalist like "Periyar".

But, he quickly referred to the stark differences between them - on religion and on "saffron", which was interpreted as Rajinikanth's inclination towards the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party).

But he kept the doors open. When reporters asked if an alliance with Kamal was possible, Rajinikanth had said, "Only time will answer this question".

Kamal alleged that the three major problems weighing the State down were apathy of the political class to financial health of the State, inability of the State to manage its (natural) resources and the gradual lowering of the bar in all spheres such as education and healthcare.Since his entry into active politics, this is the first time that Kamal has gone into the State's financial health and pointed out the Rs 100-billion revenue deficit and the Rs 408-crore fiscal deficit. "Help me help Tamil Nadu", he said.

"On February 21 as I embark on my political journey, I am announcing a plan to adopt one village in every district of Tamil Nadu with the vision and aspiration for them to be "the best villages ever in India and later why not in the world", he further said in his key note address.

Haasan said Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party head Arvind Kejriwal met him in Chennai and offered an alliance with his party.

Haasan also spoke on the topic of "love jihad", "beef", and freedom of speech, questioning the government who encourage hate in the country.
