Australia crush England to advance to tri-series final

Australia crush England to advance to tri-series final

The unbeaten Australians are all but assured of a spot in the February 21 final in Auckland after downing England by five wickets in Hobart and beating New Zealand in the series opener ahead of Saturday's match.

From there Australia's innings accelerated, as D'Arcy Short compiled a fine 36 not out, with Chris Lynn piling on 31 and Maxwell's fluent knock featuring two maximums, as he became the fourth Australian to pass 1,000 T20 worldwide runs.

The Australian leg of the T20I tri-series between Australia, New Zealand and England ended with the two Ashes rivals fighting it off in the third match that was held in Melbourne Cricket Ground.

"Our players have been in tremendous form coming off the Big Bash League and they are playing with freedom and they're playing fearless", Australia skipper David Warner said. This time he lasted just four balls, nicking a David Willey outswinger on two.

Melbourne, indeed, was an odd choice to stage this match at the end of a long England tour that has already seen a Test and one-day global at this cavernous stadium.

The agreement would also provide $140 billion in war funding and $20 billion more for other emergency spending. President Donald Trump ordered the phase out of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals ( DACA ) program.

It was the second drubbing for England after going down by five wickets to Australia in Hobart on Wednesday. Jos Buttler captained England and top-scored with 46.

"It was another poor performance from us, we didn't quite soak up the pressure early on with the bat and then we never really kicked on", said Buttler. James Vince too departed early and England were struggling at 70/4 after 10.4 overs, let down once again by a jittery top order.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl, stand-in skipper David Warner left England reeling at 3-34 in the fourth over when he ran out Dawid Malan with a brilliant direct hit.

Billings struck the only six of England's innings when he smashed Ashton Agar over long on in the 14th over, but he fell to Stanlake with Warner taking the first of two catches at mid-off.

With legspinner Adam Zampa again overlooked, Stanlake (2-28), Kane Richardson (3-33) and Tye (1-29) did the damage.
