Chief ICE Counsel Charged With Stealing Immigrants' Identities

The chief counsel for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Seattle has been charged with stealing the identities of multiple immigrants over a four-year span, according to charging documents obtained by ABC News on Wednesday.

The identity theft victims are reported to be individuals who were in various stages of immigration proceedings, the felony information document states.

The charging document states that between October 2013 and October 2017 Sanchez used the personal information of seven immigrants to try to defraud several financial institutions, including American Express, Citibank and Bank of America. In one case, Sanchez sent an energy bill, Chinese passport and US permanent resident card from his ICE email account to a personal Yahoo email account.

A Justice Department official told BuzzFeed News Sanchez resigned from the agency effective Monday, the same day the indictment against him was filed. The email contained a copy of a Chinese passport, an energy bill and a USA residence card.

U.S. ready to assist Russian Federation in investigating An-148 crash
Plane crashes are a common occurrence in Russian Federation , with airliners using aged planes in challenging conditions. In December 2016, a military plane carrying Russia's Red Army Choir went down near the black sea resort of Sochi.

Sanchez is expected in court Thursday to enter his plea. According to the complaint, the case was spearheaded by the DOJ's Public Integrity Section in Washington, DC, which oversees corruption cases involving public officials.

The Justice Department did not immediately return a request for comment. A 2015 press statement on the ICE website shows that he had been involved in enforcing matters related to employment, including one case in which an orchard was using undocumented workers.

Mr. Sanchez also allegedly used, without "lawful authority", other identification to commit the wire fraud, such as R.H.'s social security number and birth date, the document said.

If anything, these strategies are racist and they prevent people of color from living a normal life for themselves under Trump's regime.
