Google Switches On Chrome Ad Blocker

When they visit a website, Chrome automatically checks if the site violates the ads standards or not.

Google is launching an ad blocker for its browser Google Chrome, which will remove pop-up ads that appear on your screen.

Typically, Web users would install third-party ad blockers and use them on websites with annoying ad experiences. And, if Google wants to avoid adding to its various antitrust woes, it would certainly be best for the company if this ad-blocking measure doesn't turn out to unfairly benefit it.

What this means is that, when the feature goes live tomorrow, Google's browser will target and block advertisements which fail to follow the 'Better Ads Standards' as laid out in line with consumer research by an industry watchdog.

Google Chrome, the widely used internet browser of the tech giant Google has announced that it will block "annoying" ads, which use tools such as pop-ups and loudly auto-playing videos from websites that disturb users.

Google, however, has said all of its efforts are aimed at establishing better standards for ads. For mobile devices, the list expands to include full-screen scrollover ads, flashing animated ads, etc.

They were airlifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas early Sunday morning, about eight hours after the crash occurred. Kineally, who has more than 35 years of nursing experience, slid down the rocky slope to reach the crash site.

Instead it will stop certain types of particularly disruptive adverts and let normal ads through.

Google has already started warning sites that might not be in compliance, and 42 percent of those have "dialed back on ads to pass Google's standards, including the LA Times, Forbes and the Chicago Tribune", CNET reports.

"By focusing on filtering out disruptive ad experiences, we can help keep the entire ecosystem of the web healthy, and give people a significantly better user experience than they have today", Chrome Vice President Rahul Roy-Chowdhury said in a blog post this week.

"Delivering a better user experience is an essential part of rebuilding the trust in online advertising", he stated.

But Campaign cited a January analysis by Adblock Plus which suggested that Google Chrome would block just 16% of the formats identified as bad ads by the CBA, compared to the 93% that Adblock Plus would block using its own Acceptable Ads standard.

Rival firm Adblock Plus has analysed how effective a CBA ad-detection tool can be, in terms of its ability to block ads described in a CBA white paper published a year ago.
