Kim Yo Jong Fascinates, And Puzzles, In South Korea

At Saturday's hockey match between Switzerland and the unified Korean team, the North Korean cheerleaders split up into groups and situated themselves in various sections around the ice rink.

In a rare public moment, President Moon shook hands with Kim Yo Jong, the younger sister of Kim Jong Un, at start of the opening ceremony.

Kim attended the opening ceremonies of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, sitting in the same box as the Moon and US Vice President Mike Pence.

The two leaders however, did not discuss North Korea's invitation to Moon to visit Pyongyang, according to a senior administration official. If Moon accepts, it would be the third round of such talks since their division in 1945. But Koh said that both Koreas would have to reach some sort of consensus on the North Korean nuclear issue, citing that previous bilateral summits were held after progress had been made.

Later, Pence echoed the tough stance being taken by Donald Trump against Kim Jong Un's continued nuclear tests.

The Greek team, as always in the Olympic Games, entered the Olympic Stadium first, causing a thrill of emotion and enthusiasm for all Greek.

Moon met Kim Yo Jong - a close confidante of her brother and the first member of the dynasty to set foot in the South since the Korean War - and the North's ceremonial head of state Kim Yong Nam at the Blue House in Seoul.

In a letter to parents, Principal Carlota Morales called it a "difficult and necessary" decision but did not offer an explanation. If something along the way does not continue to stay within that contract, then we have no other choice", Agosta said.

In statements to to Athens-Macedonia News Agency (ANA), the ambassador said that when he asked Vasiliadis if he would fly to South Korea to attend the opening ceremony, the Greek deputy minister replied that it would cheaper to watch it together in Athens. Her visit comes one year after the U.S. Treasury Department placed sanctions on Kim for her role in propaganda and "agitation" as part of her family's harsh rule over North Korea, and her government's efforts to develop nuclear weapons.

But Mr Moon, a liberal who has always wanted to engage the North, will also have to convince a good portion of his own people who are deeply wary about North Korean intentions.

Kim Yo Jong is the first immediate relative of a North Korean leader to visit South Korea.

Instead, Pence arrived late to a reception for delegation leaders Friday and stayed for just five minutes - without interacting with the North Koreans.

Mr Moon is eager to use Kim Yo Jong's presence at the games to restore regular communication with North Korea and eventually pull it into nuclear talks. With Kim Yo Jong present for the ceremony, CNN posted a glowing article on her, noting that she was "stealing the show" at the Pyeongchang Games.

Pence also noted he wasn't concerned with keeping the focus on North Korea amid the "charm offensive" on display at the Winter Olympics.
