Pregnant Woman Loses Baby After Being 'Kicked by CPM Activists'

"Despite this they barged into our house on January 28 night and started attacking my husband", she said.

A 28-year-old Calicut resident, who was four months pregnant, was forced to go for an abortion after two CPM activists allegedly kicked her in the stomach which damaged her placenta.

"We had filed a complaint regarding the land dispute earlier with the police and the police had warned them against any unruly behaviour". Her husband and got into a tussle with the accused men over an alleged land dispute.

Her husband Thenumkuzhy told Times Now that the local CPI (M) leaders are putting pressure on him to withdraw their police complaint.

Kozhikode: A pregnant woman lost her baby after she was kicked in the stomach allegedly by Left activists last month in Kerala's Kozhikode. The main culprit in the case is still roaming free. "By the time anyone could come to our rescue, the men had assaulted everyone, including my children", the 30-year-old said, adding that the police officers refused to help her citing lack of vehicles at the station.

"One person was registered after I complained to the Kodanjery and Thamarassery police".

"The local party workers are coming here daily, asking me to withdraw the complaint against Thamby", woman's husband said referring to the CPM leader. "I have made a decision to sit in front of the police station demanding justice", the woman's husband told TOI. However, the family is adamant that they will fight the case till the end.

Meanwhile, CPI (M) leaders have denied all the charges raised against them in the incident.
