Syria blasts United States accusations on chemical weapons use as 'lies'

US Ambassador Nikki Haley accused Russian Federation on Monday of protecting Syrian President Bashar Assad from responsibility for what she said were multiple chlorine gas attacks on civilians in recent weeks.

"So many women and children were killed...yesterday there was 33 martyrs too. Even when it found that the Syrian regime was behind several chemical attacks the United Nations was not able to do anything", Tannari told Al Jazeera.

Eastern Ghouta is included in a de-escalation deal agreed past year by rebel ally Turkey and government supporters Iran and Russian Federation.

Eastern Ghouta, home to about 400,000 people, is also reeling under a government siege that has prevented aid from getting in. More than a hundred pro-regime fighters were killed.

"These reports are extremely troubling and make a mockery of the so-called "de-escalation zones" meant to protect civilians from such bombardment", said the commission's chair Paulo Pinheiro in a statement, referring to promises made by Russian Federation to reduce violence in opposition-held areas including Idlib and Eastern Ghouta.

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons said Wednesday that recent allegations of chemical weapons use were of "grave concern" and that its fact-finding mission in Syria continued to investigate. The group posted several videos on social media showing men coughing and being put onto stretchers.

The Turkish diplomat revealed that these terrorist elements are in control of 30% of Syrian territories. It said it ongoing fighting and the deliberate obstructions by forces at the front lines were blocking aid organizations from reaching civilians in need.

Syria said Wednesday it has responded to "a new Israeli aggression" after aircraft targeted a military outpost near Damascus, claiming its air defense system destroyed most of the missiles.

UN demands Syria ceasefire as air strikes pound rebel areas

More than 350 people - including 86 children and 68 women - have been killed in bombardments in Eastern Ghouta alone since December 29, SOHR says.

The US and Russian Federation have been lashing out at each other for months over the issue of accountability for chemical attacks in Syria, which is a close ally of Moscow.

Israeli planes usually use Lebanese airspace to fire missiles at targets around the capital Damascus.

There was no mention of any damage caused or casualties.

Erdogan expressed condolences to Vladimir Putin over the death of Russian military pilot Roman Filipov after the attack of militants in Syria, press service reported. "We want peace but are prepared for any scenario and I suggest that no one test us".

Turkey's NTV broadcaster reported citing a source in the Turkish presidential administration that the two presidents had agreed to hold the second summit of Russia, Turkey and Iran on the situation in Syria in Istanbul.

"We maintain that regional states should stand up against plots hatched up with the aim of violating their territorial integrity", he was quoted as saying in a Farsi report by the Iranian president's official website.
