Uber reaches settlement with Waymo in dispute over theft of trade secrets

Meanwhile, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi says that his company did not use any trade secrets from Waymo, nor has Alphabet's proprietary information made its way into their self-driving technology. Waymo believes engineer Anthony Levandowski stole 14,000 files while he was an employee, and took them to his autonomous-driving startup, Otto, which was bought by Uber in 2016.

Waymo, which was Google's self-driving auto program, had alleged its former engineer Anthony Levandowski downloaded autonomous vehicle trade secrets and took them to Uber. Uber has argued its self-driving sensor designs are unique and that Levandowski's actions were unrelated to his work at Uber.

After four days of arguments in Federal District Court here, Uber agreed to provide Waymo with 0.34 percent of its stock.

Kalanick spoke Wednesday during testimony in a trial pitting Uber's ride-hailing service against Google's self-driving vehicle spinoff, Waymo.

Bachchan is playing an incredibly fit and cheerful 102 year old who is quite notorious in his activities and moments in general. This film is based on a running Gujarati play written by Saumya Joshi by the same name and is being directed by Umesh Shukla.

Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber's CEO, said in a letter February 9 his job is to set the course for the future of the company expressed regret for actions that led to the letter.

The closely watched trial, which started earlier this week, had already seen testimony from Travis Kalanick, the Uber CEO who was ousted a year ago. "I only saw one text message" and it wasn't confidential. In the trial's surreal high-water mark, a clip of the legendary "greed is good" speech from the 1987 film "Wall Street" was played for the jury and the public. Of course, we are also competitors. Levandowski, who isn't a defendant in the lawsuit, refused to answer questions from Waymo and turn over documents, citing his constitutional right against self-incrimination.

Waymo's lawsuit said that one of the company's former engineers, Anthony Levandowski, downloaded more than 14,000 confidential files containing designs for autonomous vehicles in December 2015 before he went on to work at Uber in 2016, leading the ride-hailing firm's self-driving auto unit. Waymo is the self-driving spinoff of Google's parent company, Alphabet.

"But the prospect that a couple of Waymo employees may have inappropriately solicited others to join Otto, and that they may have potentially left with Google files in their possession, in retrospect, raised some hard questions", he wrote.
