Apple Acquires Texture Online Magazine Subscription Service

The acquisition of the service Texture, owned by Next Issue Media, comes at a time when news publishing as an industry is being shaken up by fake news accusations and Facebook's changing algorithms in ways that prioritize friend activity over brands.

Texture is a company with similarities to Netflix, and they provide subscriptions to a number of publications for a flat monthly fee.

A huge fan of basketball who has frequently been seen at Golden State Warriors games, Cue also said that a new sports feature will be coming to the TV app this week for March Madness, and that Apple thinks that it can make the sports experience "so much better" than it now is.

Sexton said: "Declan said I was just as much a part of it as everyone else in 2009 when I was in the bibs". JOHNNY SEXTON has urged his Ireland team-mates to upgrade their Six Nations title to a Grand Slam.

The largely evasive talk, titled "Curation in Media - Why It Matters", took the Austin Convention Centre audience through Apple TV and News strategy.

For Apple, the purchase of Texture is also an opportunity to highlight the company's role as a trusted news distributor at a time when the American public is anxious about the credibility of information from technology giants. Apple already delivers curated news from third-party publishers through its Apple News platform. His talk came the same morning that Apple announced that it was buying a digital magazine distributor.

"We are committed to quality journalism from trusted sources and allowing magazines to keep producing beautifully designed and engaging stories for users", said Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of Internet Software & Services, in a statement ahead of his SXSW session with CNN's Dylan Byers. The company was based in Silicon Valley and largely backed by publishers in NY. More notable is the connection this gives Apple to major publishers such as Conde Nast, Hearst, Meredith, and News Corp which may pay off in the future as Apple makes efforts to expand their reach.
