Donald Trump sacks Rex Tillerson as US Secretary of State

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was ousted Tuesday after months of strained relations with President Donald Trump, who sometimes used tweets to disparage the former Exxon Mobil CEO's efforts at global diplomacy.

Thanking Mr Tillerson for his service on Twitter, Mr Trump said the new state secretary would do "a fantastic job".

Trump's statement did not mention Tillerson, with whom he has been at odds on issues ranging from North Korea to steel and aluminum tariffs throughout the first 14 months of his administration.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson speaks about Qatar at the State Department in Washington, Friday June 9, 2017.

Trump also announced that Deputy Director of the CIA Gina Haspel take Pompeo's place as Director of the CIA, the first woman to be appointed to the job. He added, "I want to thank Rex Tillerson for his service. Congratulations to all!" President Trump tweeted Tuesday morning. Both she and Pompeo will have to be confirmed by the Senate.

Kirk Cousins will be the subject of a free agency documentary
He started every game the past three seasons, leading Washington to the playoffs in 2015 - his only postseason appearance. And the Jets - unlike the Broncos and Cardinals - have a boatload of cap space to make Cousins an offer he can't refuse.

The rejig comes amid the turbulent human resource management at the White House, with four Trump aides deserting him in the past fortnight.

The president has accepted an invitation, conveyed by South Korea, to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un within the next two months to discuss denuclearization.

He also tapped Gina Haspel to lead the Central Intelligence Agency. And Tillerson once allegedly called Trump a "moron", a charge he never denied.

"Mike and Gina have worked together for more than a year, and have developed a great mutual respect", Mr. Trump said.
