IPL 2018: Gautam Gambhir Named Delhi Daredevils Captain

Gautam Gambhir was on Wednesday appointed as the captain of Delhi Daredevils (DD) for 2018 Indian Premier League season.

He also led Kolkata to two IPL titles, in 2012 and 2014.

"I am more excited than I have ever been", said Gautam Gambhir during the launch event of the Delhi Daredevils' new team jersey.

Speaking about the Gambhir's appointment, head coach Ricky Ponting said: "Gauti has been a leader for a very long time". Gambhir was purchased for Rs. 2.80 crores by the Delhi franchise at this year's IPL Auction.

The two-time World Cup winning player added, "The potential of this group of players is enormous and it is now up to us to turn that potential into consistent performances". He said that it won't be hard to manage the players as the price tag is not in the players' hands. "I firmly believe that with the players now involved we have the makings of a very good side", he added.

Facebook adds video chat to Messenger Lite, its pared-down Android app
Facebook said it's adding video chat to Messenger Lite because consumers want and expect the feature to be present in the app. The social media giant has noticed that video chats are extremely popular among users of the standard Messenger client.

Delhi Daredevils have once again gone through a drastic makeover, and will be hoping to finally go the distance in the tournament where they have not had much luck. Taking the baton himself, he made sure he led from the front and was always an example to follow for the rest. He was the second-highest scorer during the last IPL.

Delhi have assembled a solid looking unit this season and Gambhir is the right choice to lead the side.

With the help of Australia's greatest batsman Ricky Ponting Gambhir and his team can make a challenging duo and after having local lad return, Delhi eyes on their first IPL final.

"I will try and play with absolute honesty and integrity and with a lot of passion and energy as well", the Southpaw batsman said.

The 2018 IPL begins on April 7, but the Daredevils will kick off their campaign a day later against the Kings XI Punjab.
