Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to Sign With Jets

Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to Sign With Jets

The New York Jets are expected to sign quarterback Teddy Bridgewater when the National Football League free agency period officially starts on March 14, according to an initial report from Bryant McFadden. McCown and the Jets have expressed a desire to get back together as a backup plan.

The Jets are also interested in Teddy Bridgewater, who missed almost two seasons with a knee injury.

The Jets had high hopes going into free agency, since they had the most space available under the salary cap.

Both players will reportedly receive one-year deals, with McCown's worth $10 million and Bridgewater's worth about half that, per an ESPN report.

Sam Bradford intends to sign with Arizona Cardinals according to reports
He'll become the Cardinals' presumed starter as early as Wednesday since they don't now have any quarterbacks under contract. Less than a month later, Bradford would undergo a knee scope and was placed on injured reserve the next day on November 8.

The renewal for the veteran, who turns 39 in July, comes after reports suggested the Jets were also locked in negotiations with QB Teddy Bridgewater, who is leaving the Minnesota Vikings, throughout Tuesday.

McCown's season ended prematurely after suffering a fractured left (non-throwing) hand, which required surgery, in a Week 14 loss to the Denver Broncos. He also hinted to teammates that he might retire, but he came out publicly in January to say he intends to play at least one more season.

Josh McCown had an impressive 2017, considering the state of the Jets. They only had Bryce Petty and Joel Stave under contract, meaning NY will likely want to find one more body for competition or depth. Wednesday is the first day National Football League teams can sign players.

He is 23-50 as a starter over his career, with 17,168 passing yards, 97 touchdown passes and 78 interceptions.
