Sooners Get 2018 NCAA Tournament Bid

The Musketeers could be poised to break through this season.

What: Four play-in games to determine the official 64-team bracket for the 2018 NCAA Division-1 Men's Basketball Tournament, followed by 32 Round of 64 games.

Rhode Island, (25-7, 15-3), the Atlantic 10 regular season champs will take on 10-seed Oklahoma Thursday in Pittsburgh.

Coach Odom says his team is resilient and ready for the challenge. "I think this runs deep enough and involves enough people in programs that something's got to change". The game will be played Thursday in Boise, Idaho.

Virginia Tech, one of the two teams to defeat Virginia this season, earned one of the 36 at-large bids and one of the ACC's nine total bids, the most by a single conference this year.

With the Gonzaga Bulldogs making last year's Final Four, the Musketeers are arguably the most consistent program in college basketball without an NCAA tournament semifinals appearance on their resume.

Bennett said he didn't see the UMBC-Vermont game, "but I know [Lyles] is a heck of a player", Bennett said. He might be a high-volume shooter, but his scoring prowess would play well on teams in the ACC. He is one of just 14 players in the country that is now averaging at least 15.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

The Oklahoma Sooners have won two games since February 1. The Tar Heels are 33-1 in NCAA Tournament games in their home state, the only loss coming in 1979.

Turkish plane crashes in Iran
The state-run IRNA news agency and state television said rescuers were trying to reach the scene, high up in the Zagros Mountains. Officials at the airport did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

UNC won nine of 11 games before falling to top-ranked Virginia in Saturday's ACC title game.

POTENTIAL UPSETS: The West Region has three games that will be popular upset picks.

Third-seeded MI (28-7), victor of 10 straight games, is the likely Sweet Sixteen matchup in what would be a rematch of a game Carolina won in Chapel Hill on November 29.

Prior to that, though, Florida (20-12) had posted three straight impressive wins, over Auburn, Alabama and Kentucky, the eventual SEC Tournament champion. Ohio State also must find a way to stop South Dakota State's 6-foot-9 forward Mike Daum, the conference player of the year after averaging 23.8 points and 10.4 rebounds per game.

MARSHALL VS. MARSHALL: One first-round game that should be fun to watch is Wichita State and coach Gregg Marshall against Marshall.

The Tigers will open play on Friday in San Diego, California in the Midwest Region, taking on New Mexico State (28-5 record).

Cincinnati (3-4) also has a stifling defense and won the American Athletic Conference title. He ranks fourth in total blocks in the ACC and fifth in blocks per game, while he is 27th in the country in both categories.
