Watch the Video Game Violence Video Shown to President Trump

Trump made it quite clear where his train of thought was when he said " I'm hearing more and more people say the level of violence on video games is really shaping young people's thoughts", following the tragic event.

"Video games are plainly not the issue: entertainment is distributed and consumed globally, but the U.S. has an exponentially higher level of gun violence than any other nation", it said ahead of the Washington talks, which the White House said also involved experts on violence. "This meeting is part of ongoing discussions with local leaders and Congress on issues concerning school and public safety and protecting America's youth".

"The president acknowledged some studies have indicated there is a correlation between video game violence and real violence", The White House said in a statement.

The attendees at the Thursday meeting with Trump include, among others, the CEO of Rockstar Games, the maker of Grand Theft Auto, the CEO of Entertainment Software Association, a trade association serving video game makers, the president of Entertainment Software Rating Board, which rates video games for violence and explicit content, and Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, the author of "Assassination Generation: Video Games, Aggression, and the Psychology of Killing".

'He asked a lot of questions and he raised concerns with the violent nature of these games and asked the question: Is this causing the kids to have (this) violent behavior?' said Rep. Vicky Hartzler, R-Mo to Associated Press.

Two out of three American households have someone who plays video games regularly and approximately 97% of children aged 12-17 play video games. In practically the same breath, though, she said that "as a mom and a former high school teacher, it just intuitively seems that prolonged viewing of violent nature would desensitize a young person".

Lewis was with The Chronicles of Narnia", Professor Marek Oziewicz of the University of Minnesota stated . "I'm so excited to share this piece of art and magic that we created with the world", Reid tells espnW .

But groups that advocate for greater parental controls say research shows a definite correlation between violent media consumption and long-term harm to a child.

The conversation lasted for nearly an hour and was "vigorous" but "respectful", and Trump seemed to be interested in hearing from all sides, said Melissa Henson of the Parents Television Council, a group that advocates against violence and sex in entertainment. "While he was doing that, there was silence around the room".

While Thursday's meeting didn't end with a final solution, Winter said President Trump was attentive and listened to everyone's perspectives. The popular shooting franchise usually releases a game every year, with the games generating over $1 billion in revenue so far.

"We're going to be very fair and very flexible, but we're going to be protecting the American worker", the president said.

"We welcomed the opportunity today to meet with the President and other elected officials at the White House", the Entertainment Software Association said in a statement.

The ESA noted that they discussed how games are protected by the First Amendment so they can't be outright banned (although it seems no one suggested this in the meeting) and that they have a rating system in place that has worked for years. "I look at some of the things he's watching, and I say, 'How is that possible?'" he said. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) told Glixel.
