Amid protests, two J&K BJP Ministers who backed Kathua rape accused, resign

Kathua rape and murder case took another turn on Friday evening after two BJP ministers submitted their resignation. Industries Minister Chandra Prakash Ganga and Forest Minister Lal Singh had addressed a rally in support of the accused by a group called the Hindu Ekta Manch in March.

According to reports, the two BJP ministers had gone to the place of agitation at Rasana in Kathua and had attended a meeting in support of the accused to demand a CBI probe in the matter.

Lekhi said the accused in the rape cases needs to be punished.

"The Core Group expressed solidarity with the victim's family and resolved that the party will not cooperate with the state government until and unless the two erring Cabinet ministers are sacked for their unacceptable, abhorrent and criminal behavior in the light of this tragedy and its politicisation", he said. They should have ideally not commented until an investigation was conducted.
