Ant McPartlin Pleads Guilty To Drink Driving

After he was formally charged, police later revealed Ant was twice over the legal limit when he was arrested.

The presenter appeared at the court earlier today, flanked by security as he looked sombre in a black tie and black three-piece suit.

His mother was in the vehicle with him at the time of the crash and the barrister told the district judge the incident was down to "a brief relapse unbeknownst to his passenger".

Meanwhile a witness statement from a driver of one of the two cars involved in the collision with McPartlin said that he and his wife "could have died as a result of Mr McPartlin's reckless driving".

Popular British television host Ant McPartlin pleaded guilty Monday to a charge of drunk driving in connection with a three-car crash in London last month that left several people injured.

Inside the courtroom, he spoke only to confirm his name, age, address and nationality before pleading guilty to a single charge of drink-driving. Higher standards are expected of me, I expect them of myself. "Anthony McPartlin is sorry and is doing everything he can to ensure this never happens again", Mr Walker said.

While this operation was not sanctioned by the United Nations, Syria was supposed to destroy its chemical weapons arsenal under a 2013 UN resolution, he said.

The court heard in a statement to police, Ant said: "I am very sorry I did this". For that I'm truly sorry'.

"I'm truly sorry for what happened", Ant said in a brief statement after leaving court just moments ago. "I'd like to apologise to everybody involved in the crash and I'm just thankful no one was seriously hurt".

The TV presenter has been put off the road for 20 months and fined £86,000 after crashing in London last month.

In a letter that was read out in court, he said he was "ashamed and mortified" by what he had done, that he "accepts full responsibility" for what has happened, and that he let himself "and so many others down".

McPartlin and Donnelly are among the best-known presenters on British TV, fronting primetime entertainment formats for ITV such as "Saturday Night Takeaway", "Britain's Got Talent" and "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!"
