Armenians protest ex-leader's move to stay in power

In this edition Day.Az reported that the activists, led by the leader of the party "Civil contract", Deputy of the parliamentary faction of the "EFC" Nikol Pashinyan broke into the building of Yerevan state base medical College.

Sarkisian, 63, ended his second and final presidential term last week.

On Tuesday, Armenians will go to the polls to elect the nation's prime minister.

Authorities called on him to end the protests, which they threatened to break up by force.

Pashinyan on Sunday had called on people to block Yerevan's bridges, streets, and subway on Monday. But Serzh. whose party holds a majority in parliament, is to be nominated to be prime minister this weekend.

"Something unprecedented is happening in Armenia - the same person wants to become the country's leader for a third time", Pashinian said at the weekend.

Trump calls Comey 'untruthful slime ball' as book details released
His chat on Sunday saw Comey brand Trump "morally unfit to be president" and accuse him of repeated lying. He copped a plea and is now cooperating with Special Counsel Robert Mueller , who has bigger fish to fry.

Several hundred people sat or laid down on pavements on Monday, blocking roads leading to the parliament building and universities. 'Fake agenda' Parliamentary vice-speaker Eduard Sharmazanov, who is the ruling party's spokesman, dismissed the protests as "the opposition's artificial and fake agenda".

"No one will prevent us from voting tomorrow for our candidate Serzh Sarkisian", he told AFP.

Armen Sarkisian, no relation to Serzh, became Armenia's new president on April 9.

The two men are not related.

Armenia's opposition views the move as Sargsyan's attempt to stay in power indefinitely and has vowed to keep protesting around the clock.
