Bayern hit back over 'outrageous' Kovac claims

Croatian Niko Kovac will take over as Bayern Munich coach next season, succeeding Jupp Heynckes who is leaving at the end of the season, the German champions said on Friday.

Heynckes, who guided Bayern to a record sixth consecutive Bundesliga Meisterschale with victory over Augsburg last Saturday, will be a tough act to follow.

The club's resurgence has continued this term with Kovac's men fifth in the Bundesliga, just two points behind Bayer Leverkusen, who occupy the final Champions League qualifying spot.

His brother Robert, also a former Bayern player, will join him from Frankfurt as his assistant. "We agreed yesterday on a three-year contract". The former striker has won the Europe's premier club prize as a coach with both clubs (1998 with Real and 2013 with Bayern).

Kicker magazine reported that Bayern would pay a fee of 2.2 million euros ($2.7 million) to trigger a release clause in Kovac's existing contract with Frankfurt.

Reports suggesting the Frankfurt manager had been chosen as Jupp Heynckes' successor began to circulate on Thursday, prompting Bobic to criticise the "unprofessional" nature of Bayern's conduct.

He said over 100 districts in the country including Chattisgarh's Bijapur were backward even 70 years after the Independence. Under the scheme, Van Vikas Kendras will be set up to ensure better marketing and value addition to forest produce.

Several high-profile coaches, including Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, were linked with the Bayern job after Heynckes reportedly rejected the offer of a contract extension. "If we'd said it in four weeks, we'd have had peace and the Frankfurters the trouble".

Frankfurt sporting director Fredi Bobic blasted Bayern for not getting in touch beforehand, and for the timing of its announcement. "In this phase which is extremely important for Eintracht Frankfurt".

"Thomas Tuchel told us that he's signed with another club".

Bobic added: "They did their thing and thought of themselves".

Despite relative inexperience after a stint in charge of Croatia, Kovac saved Frankfurt from relegation after taking over in March 2016 and led the team to the German Cup final the following season. Bayern's loss is Hoffenheim's gain, however, as the young coach can continue to build his team to climb the Bundesliga table.

Lewandowksi came off the bench to get on the scoresheet himself, his 27th Bundesliga goal of the season taken well in the closing stages as Bayern racked up a 15th league win from their last 17 outings.
