Kathua rape case: United Nations chief wants accused to be punished

An eight-year-old girl from the Bakherwal community was abducted, raped and murdered in Rassana village in Hiranagar tehsil of Kathua district in January. "We have nothing on record" to take note of the local lawyers' strike, the Bench had told advocate P V Dinesh who raised the matter earlier in the day. The protesters said they apprehend that hindrances will be created in the way of trial by those elements who do not want justice to be delivered. I do not believe in Hindu-Muslim politics.

"I had gone there, (ministers) Bali (Bhagat) and (Abdul Gani) Kohli had gone to Nowshera and Sunderbani to listen to people". They did the right thing. These two ministers had gone to pacify the people, but subsequently their presence was mistaken for trying to shield the accused.

The Supeme Court (SC) said on Friday it has made a decision to examine, of its own accord, the Kathua gangrape-murder case +, and has also sent a notice to the Bar Council of Jammu and Kashmir for preventing the filing of a chargesheet against the rape accused.

A spokesman of the bar, in a statement, said that the members would hold a candlelight march procession from District Court complex Janipur to Ambphala at 6 pm today "in memory of the victim and to pay respectful homage to the departed soul".

Huey Lewis, suffering hearing loss, cancels 2018 tour
Lewis, 67, said he's been to several major ear specialists, including the Mayo Clinic, looking for answers. Lewis said his hearing loss has made lower frequencies "distort violently" so that he can't find pitch.

"When we met people they put forward a demand for a CBI inquiry, we had simply put it across, being the people's representatives". Sources told Times Now that Chaudhary Lal, one of the ministers who resigned yesterday, had reportedly told Madhav that he had attended the controversial rally on the orders of state BJP President Sat Sharma.

Her attackers, which included temple official and policemen, drugged and gang raped her over days before finally killing her and dumping her body in a forest nearby, seven days later.

The crime branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police has submitted a chargesheet in the case against eight accused, including two special police officers and a sub-inspector and a head constable for destroying evidence.
