New JRR Tolkien Book The Fall Of Gondolin Hitting Bookshelves This Year

JRR Tolkien's 93-year-old son Christopher Tolkien edited the novel, which is set to be released this August.

Publisher Houghton Mifflin Harcourt will publish one of J.R.R. Tolkien's earliest stories from Middle-earth later this year, giving fans yet another look into the vast world he created decades after his death.

The Fall of Gondolin is set to arrive late this summer, manifesting as a 304-page novel, showcasing illustrations by the legendary (movie-aesthetic-inspiring) Tolkien-artist, Alan Lee, released in all physical and digital formats in numerous languages in the United States of America by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

Tolkien once called the fable about the mysterious and attractive city of Gondolin's downfall at the hands of dark forces the first "real story" in his Lord of the Rings universe.

The Fall of Gondolin follows the release of Beren and Luthien in May 2017.

Here is the books byline "During the years that the dark lord Morgoth (Sauron's predecessor and mentor) reigned supreme in Middle-Earth, his fellow godlike Valar refused to intervene against him on behalf of the peoples of Middle-Earth". On his journey, Tuor will experience what HarperCollins describes as "one of the most arresting moments in the history of Middle-earth" when Ulmo himself emerges from the ocean during a storm.

Liverpool issue Mohamed Salah injury update
Liverpool's second game in March was against Manchester United where Liverpool lost 2-1 and Salah failed to save his team. Asked if the thought City were more vulnerable he said: "No, I didn't think anything like that".

Garth says Tolkien wrote The Fall of Gondolin while he was in a hospital following the Battle of Somme.

John Garth, author of Tolkien and the Great War, said of The Fall of Gondolin: "It's a quest story with a reluctant hero who turns into a genuine hero - it's a template for everything Tolkien wrote afterwards". Elves that reside in the city, called Noldor, are threatened by the new evil and one elf named Tuor encounters the sea-god Ulmo who is backing the elves in the brutal war.

HarperCollins will publish The Fall of Gondolin on August 30, the publishing company announced Tuesday.

Those who have read The Silmarillion will know what happens to Morgoth but The Fall of Gondolin should provide a decent amount of backstory to his rise and how badass his army is.

So in 2007 Christopher Tolkien released The Children of Hurin, which was followed by Beren and Luthien past year.
