Seahawks sign PK Janikowski to one-year deal

Former Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski has found a new home.

The 40-year-old Janikowski, who was told by the Raiders two months ago he wouldn't be returning to Oakland for his 18th season, will replace now free-agent kicker Blair Walsh in Seattle.

Janikowski is signing a one-year deal.

ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported Janikowski's deal with the Seahawks. He did not play last season after being placed on injured reserve with a back issue that surfaced late in the preseason.

She was later taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, where she died last Thursday. After telling police he was having heart problems, officers brought Meyers to St.

In Seattle, Janikowski will work with Brian Schneider, who was his special teams coach in Oakland for two seasons from 2007 to 2008.

He has an 80.4 percent accuracy on field goals in his career. He nailed a 63-yarder in 2011, which tied the National Football League record at the time.

His 63-yard field goal at Denver in 2011 tied the National Football League record for longest field goal at the time, and Janikowski has made 80.4 percent of his field goal attempts (414 of 515) and 98.9 percent of his extra-point attempts.

The only kicker now on Seattle's roster is Jason Myers, who was signed to a futures contract in January. He's broken a slew of kicking records, and holds the record for most games played as a Raider.
