Trump calls Comey 'untruthful slime ball' as book details released

While criticism from President Donald Trump isn't new to Comey, the president used new descriptors for him after the first clip of Comey's exclusive interview with ABC News' chief anchor George Stephanopoulos was released Friday morning.

"He looked slightly orange up close with small white-half moons under his eyes, which I assume are from tanning googles", Comey added.

His chat on Sunday saw Comey brand Trump "morally unfit to be president" and accuse him of repeated lying.

When asked if the Russians have something on Trump, Comey said it was possible.

Trump attempted on Monday to discredit Comey by aligning him with his ongoing narrative of attacks on the Federal Bureau of Investigation for having - as he perceives it - a bias against him. Trump has since denied asking Comey that, both directly denying it during a June 2017 press conference and then calling it a "Comey lie" in a December 2017 tweet. Trump's Monday morning tweet suggests that Comey was in cahoots with Clinton and wanted to absolve her of any wrongdoing before the FBI's investigation was concluded.

Trump's accusation that Comey "lied in Congress to Senator G" appears to be referring to Sens.

At this point, it is still a matter of legal opinion whether the President's alleged request that Mr Comey drop the FBI's investigation into former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, amounts to obstruction of justice or not.

Former FBI Director James Comey tweeted on Sunday that he wrote in his new book about two presidents who represent "ethical leadership" and one who does not.

"If he objected to anything that he had witnessed in his very limited, very few meetings with President Trump, he should have said so. The president is confounded that this person is always able to divert the spotlight to him", White House adviser Kellyanne Conway said in an interview with ABC News on Monday. She accused him of peddling a "revisionist version of history" and sinking into the "gutter" with petty comments about the size of Trump's hands and the length of his tie.

The man who served as Trump's Federal Bureau of Investigation director until the president fired him in May said the truth, the rule of law and integrity were "things [that] matter before any fights about policies" like whether the USA should build a border wall or more strictly regulate the sale guns. Comey again defended his actions, saying he made what he thought was the best decision at the time. He copped a plea and is now cooperating with Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who has bigger fish to fry. Comey addressed these issues during an interview an interview on ABC's "20/20" on Sunday night, going as far as labeling Trump "morally unfit to be president". "I don't know", Comey said.

The president fired Comey as head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation on May 9, 2017.

Comey, in his own telling, says he likely treated Clinton more harshly because the polls showed that she was likely to win the presidential election.

"You would think that in private, talking to the Federal Bureau of Investigation director, whose job it is to thwart Russian attacks, you might acknowledge that this enemy of ours is an enemy of ours", Comey said. "People in this country need to stand up and go to the voting booth and vote their values". "That is the core of this country".
