UFC Glendale: Dustin Poirier demands title shot after stopping Justin Gaethje cold

We got some hot finishes up and down the card, with a handful of fighters making massive steps forward and a few others facing somewhat of a stumble.

Meanwhile UFC President Dana White said that Poirier is now among the contenders to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov for the Lightweight title.

Win, lose or draw, nothing seems to matter more to UFC lightweight Justin Gaethje than putting on an unforgettable show for his supporters and last night in his headlining matchup with Dustin Poirier, he sure did not disappoint.

"As I thought about the possibilities this fight could take, I knew I would have to dig down deep, I knew trouble would present itself", Poirier said. Tough guy. Poirier ate, much like the Eddie Alvarez fight, tons of kicks.

Dustin Poirier vowed to finesse Justin Gaethje, and finesse him he did.

Late-Game Rally Falls Short in Game 1 Loss to Pelicans
They are a strong defensive team, holding the opposition to 103 points, good for fifth in the National Basketball Association . New Orleans has now stolen home court advantage away from Portland ahead of their Tuesday night matchup for Game 2.

Gaethje (18-2), from Safford, Arizona, had the crowd support and landed a series of punches in the second round, though was deducted a point by referee Herb Dean for hitting with an open hand for the second time in the third.

As Gaethje stumbled around the cage, Poirier swarmed in to tag him with combinations before finishing him along the cage wall. With his legs chewed up by Gaethje's most valuable weapon, Poirier began shooting for takedowns, but the ex-WSOF champ shucked off every one of his attempts, kept walking Poirier down, and momentarily rocked him with a right hand.

Gaethje's loss to Poirer was named fight of the night, the second consecutive card the 29-year-old has received the honour, and the Arizona native speaks with a level of confidence that makes you believe that he nearly expects to be in "fight of the night" calibre bouts. "He has no quit in him, and I respect that 100 percent".

His initial win streak of 4 fights - which included a win over Max Holloway - was stopped by Chan Sung Jung, and two subsequent winning streaks were snapped by Conor McGregor and Michael Johnson. It aired on FOX following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

What remains unsure, however, is whether Poirier will get his wish for an instant title shot.
