WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY: Freezing Rain Forecasted For Sunday For MetroWest

The National Weather Service lifted the winter weather advisory for Suffolk, Norfolk, and northern Bristol counties Sunday morning, but cold temperatures are still expected, an official said. The rain and freezing rain will come later.

Freezing rain could reach farther south Saturday night, into the Finger Lakes and Central New York, but the weather service said it's still unclear if temperatures will drop far enough for ice to form.

The advisory is for Oneida, Yates, Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Steuben, Schuyler, Tompkins, Madison, Cortland, Chenango and Otsego counties.

Periods of sleet or freezing rain will result in slippery roads and limited visibilities. Areas of light snow will continue into this afternoon with additional accumulation amounts of around an inch possible.
