Anthony Davis named finalist for MVP, Defensive Player of the Year awards

Most Valuable Player: Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans), LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers) and James Harden (Houston Rockets).

Who do you think should win the NBA Defensive MVP and Rookie of the Year awards?

The votes for the regular-season awards were submitted by the media in April.

The awards will be voted by a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada, while fans will get to vote for several awards as well.

All season we've heard about the NBA Rookie of the Year being a two-man race between Simmons and Utah Jazz sparkplug Donovan Mitchell, and while Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum has also been named a finalist for the award, a two-man race it effectively remains.

With 27.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and 9.1 assists per game, James' numbers are especially impressive when one considers the circumstances the 2016 National Basketball Association champions have gone through this year with the trade of Kyrie Irving, injuries, a general manager change and the absence of head coach Tyronn Lue due to illness.

Italy's 5-Star chief says policy agenda with League nearly completed
Mr Di Maio also targeted the UK's Financial Times for a story headlined " Rome opens its gates to the modern barbarians ". Italian stocks tumbled 2.3 percent while Italy's 10-year bond yield jumped to 2.096 percent.

Even though Embiid probably won't win the award, as Gobert's defensive ranking is far and away the best mark in the entire league, it's nice to see the big man get some much-needed appreciation for his hard work.

Embiid finished third in the National Basketball Association in rebounds per game, fifth in blocks per game and ninth in defensive real plus minus.

Davis was the only player named as a finalist for two different awards.

The NBA regular season ended over a month ago, and we still have over a month until the league's postseason awards will be handed out at the 2018 NBA Awards show on June 25.

Davis was also a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year, along with Gobert and Philadelphia center Joel Embiid.
