At least 1 killed, multiple hurt in NJ school bus crash

- A school bus and a dump truck were involved in a crash on Route 80 in Mount Olive, New Jersey Thursday morning, according to NJ State Police.

The bus is on its side on the median and the front end appears to be crushed or ripped off. Photos from the scene: The bus was said to be occupied with 40 to 46 people at the time, with students from East Brook Middle School in Paramus.

The front of the bus is mangled and the vehicle is missing its wheels. Children were seen in the median area away from the bus.

The crash involving the bus and a truck occurred in Mount Olive Township at about 10:20 a.m., authorities said.

The school bus had markings for the Paramus School District.

Mount Olive Mayor Rob Greenbaum said he rushed to the scene and was observing the rescue efforts from an overpass.

"There's an incredible emergency response from throughout Morris County and by state police".

Police have said they are investigating a "serious" accident. "It's a horrific scene", Mt. It was unclear exactly how many people were on the bus, or who the victims were that were killed and injured.

Gov. Murphy has also been briefed on the situation, and the National Transportation Safety Board says it is gathering information on the crash.
