BSF man, policeman killed in two separate J&K incidents

A soldier of the Border Security Force (BSF) was killed on Monday (14.05.2018) night after Pakistan violated ceasefire yet again along the worldwide border in Jammu's Samba sector. "We will track and neutralise them soon", said KK Sharma, Director General (DG) of BSF.

He said heavy firing between the two sides continued for an hour during which Constable Devender Singh was hit by a stray bullet through the loophole of his picket.

"There is a possibility that a group of five (terrorists) managed to sneak into this side through a tunnel on Sunday night". This is the fourth infiltration bid to be foiled by the BSF along the IB in the past four days. While Indian forces retaliated strongly, a BSF constable - Devender Kumar - lost his life. We have not so far detected any tunnel but we are looking for it.

Japan's economy just shrunk for the first time in over 2 years
Economists say while the contraction is temporary, the rebound will not be almost as strong as previous quarters. Consumer spending fell marginally, registering a decline of less than one percentage point in the first quarter.

He said this (infiltration attempts and Pakistani firing) was a "very serious incident" because it had happened ahead of the scheduled visit of prime minister to the state on 19 May. The border along the IB has been witnessing he frequent ceasefire violation by Pakistan since last few months. "The anti-tunneling exercise is going on", he said. "Many terrorists waiting at launching pads in Pakistan to infiltrate into India", added Sharma. Sources said around 11.30 pm, the BSF troops noticed some movement across the border and fired tracer rounds to illuminate the area.

"The BSF always gives a befitting reply to Pakistan".
