Emilia Clarke says there's no gender pay gap with 'Game of Thrones'

And, she did the same during an interview at the Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday as part of the Kering Women in Motion talk on May 15, before the premiere of her upcoming movie Solo: A Star Wars Story. She shot to fame because of the character she plays in the fantasy drama and naturally, feels sad about it all coming to an end.

"Let's just be women", she said, suggesting alternative questions could be, "How does it feel to play a female lead in a big blockbuster movie?" or "How does it feel to play someone with power?"

Actress Emilia Clarke poses for photographers during a photo call for the film "Solo: A Star Wars Story" at the 71st global film festival, Cannes, southern France, Tuesday, May 15, 2018. Are you telling me there's another option, that there's a weak option?

"Take the "strong" out of it, find another adjective, damn it", Clarke added.

"You break the mold that's put into place and there's a huge amount of work that needs to go into addressing all of the things that need to be addressed".

The actor also said there are no strong men characters in films, unless they are physically strong.

"It will be what none of us think it will be", Clarke predicted. Do you know what I mean? "So I think it's mainly in the beginning, just be aware of that and going, 'Can you just check?,'" she said of handling negotiations.

Emilia Clarke was "shocked" to hear about pay inequality issues, as she says she's always been paid the same as her male co-stars on Game of Thrones. "It was my first job and I was not discriminated against because I was a woman, in my pay cheque".

In addition to the film, Clarke is in the midst of filming the final episodes of "Game of Thrones", a career-defining project for the young actress who became loved for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO series.

Emilia said the discoveries were "shocking, actually shocking". "If you're only asking women, it's like we're just show ponies".
