It's Wagner vs. Wolf

Pennsylvania state senator and waste-hauling millionaire Scott Wagner is the victor of the Republican nomination to challenge Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf.

Both Wolf and Wagner have strong business ties to York County: Wagner as the head of Penn Waste Inc. and Wolf as former head of his family business, The Wolf Organization Inc.

Scott Wagner, Republican candidate for Pennsylvania Governor, campaigns at a diner in Imperial, Pa. Monday, May 14, 2018, the day before the Pennsylvania primary where he faces two other Republicans, Paul Mango and Laura Ellsworth.

With 91 percent of the state's precincts reporting, Wagner, a York County state senator and businessman, captured 46 percent of the vote, according to unofficial state totals.

As early returns trickled in, he said he was confident that Wagner would prevail. Many voters had choices they haven't had before. Wagner is a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump, while Gov. Wolf has been critical of the current president.

It's less obvious that Republicans statewide are going to pick a candidate based on who party officials have selected.

Scott Wagner may be the frontrunner in our poll, but he says he's acting like the underdog.

Guatemala moves Israeli embassy to Jerusalem as furore over killings continues
Israel said all 86 countries with diplomatic missions in Israel were invited to the event, and 33 accepted. Following in the footsteps of the United States , Guatemala opened its embassy in Jerusalem Wednesday.

Wagner is brash - "I am going to be the next governor, take that to the bank", he said a year ago - and has a penchant for off-the-cuff speaking that makes him a magnet for controversy.

Where do the GOP candidates stand on the issues?

It's this kind of tough, no-nonsense talk that resonated among rank and file Republican voters and put Wagner over the top. "Leading the Republican legislature, Scott Wagner has been standing in the way of progress and blocking efforts to change Harrisburg and help Pennsylvania families".

Those "body blows" will hurt Wagner, though how much is hard to say, Borick said. Mr. Wagner also supports raising the state minimum wage, and he was a sponsor of an anti-discrimination bill in the areas of housing, employment and public accommodations.

The biggest controversy of the campaign has been over whether Mango ought to be attacking Wagner so aggressively, Madonna said. In one Mr. Mango called Mr. Wagner "sleazy".

Wagner, like Trump, eschewed political correctness as he barreled forward delivering his message to drain the swamp and fix our broken state government.

You can view the ad below. Wagner said growing up as a "farm boy" helped him develop his work ethic and inspired him to enter politics.
