Suspect injured after armed confrontation with officer at Dixon High School

Preliminary investigation shows the suspect shot at the officer and the officer then returned fire.

Danny Langloss, Dixon City Manager tweeted "So grateful for the heroic actions of the Dixon police officer who stopped the armed gunman at Dixon high school". The former student ran away and out of the school. The officer confronted the suspect, who exited the school and began running westbound on Armory Drive. That's when the officer fired back, hitting and injuring the gunman.

The suspect was taken into custody, Howell said. He says the gunman is in custody with non-life-threatening injuries. He is expected to recover.

Howell, Jr., said he believes the shooter acted alone and there were no injuries to any staff or students, and added they also believe there are no further threats to staff, students or the community.

Students have been reunited with their families.

Google is being investigated in Australia for allegedly collecting customer data
Google's privacy documents already state that when an Android user turns on Google Maps, then the location data is tracked. Sure that sounds amusing , but really, is the tech giant keeping tabs on everything we search and everywhere we go?

Dixon High School was evacuated and parents are now being allowed to pick-up their children. Detectives are now trying to learn more about the man who opened fire and why he brought a gun to the school. "The district has been receiving training on how to respond to these situations". Authorities said they did everything right.

The shooting incident began near the school's west gymnasium about 8 a.m. Wednesday, according to officials speaking at a late-morning news conference.

"He saved an enormous amount of lives", Lee County Sheriff John Simonton.

An Illinois school resource officer stopped an armed teenager at a high school this morning, according to the local police chief, who applauded the officer for saving "countless" lives.

His comments were echoed by Gov. Bruce Rauner who, in a statement, credited "school resource officer Mark Dallas for his bravery and quick action to immediately diffuse a unsafe situation". The names of the suspect and officer were not immediately released.
