Whole Foods sales items get even cheaper for Amazon Prime members

Since it bought Whole Foods a year ago, Amazon.com Inc. has cut prices on some groceries, begun offering same-day delivery to Prime members in several cities and extended its 5 percent cash back Amazon rewards credit card to Whole Foods purchases.

So far, the perks are available in Florida and will roll out to all other stores starting this summer. Nearly immediately following the acquisition, it began slashing prices in Whole Foods' stores.

Amazon is offering Prime members 10 percent discounts on select items at Whole Foods stores in Florida, the first step in a program Amazon expects to implement nationwide this summer.

"That's significant", Whole Foods CEO John Mackey told Fortune.

The companies also launched two-hour delivery from Whole Foods via Amazon's Prime Now service in 10 cities across the US, with more to come this year, Amazon says.
