Ali's lawyer rejects "Trump pardon"

Ali's lawyer rejects

He called pardoning power "a lovely thing", and may be considering as many as 3,000 pardons, Fox News reports. Square those two ideas. Ali hasn't needed a pardon for fifty years, and even if he did, we can't imagine he'd want one from Trump.

Trump has already granted clemency to a number people, and told reporters on Friday that "there will be more pardons".

The case made its way up to the Supreme Court, which ruled in Ali's favor in an 8-0 vote on June 29, 1971. Ali's conviction for draft evasion was overturned fifty years ago by the Supreme Court, so Trump's strategy to hide his racism behind this pardon was laughable.

Ali was sentenced to five years jail in 1967 after saying his Muslim faith meant he was unable to fight in a war.

It's more than that. He knew there would be consequences and he faced them on principle, seeking exemptions first as a conscientious objector and then because he was a minister.

Mr Trump said that "instead of talk", he is going to ask protesting players to suggest "people that they think were unfairly treated by the justice system". They never called me n--r, they never lynched me, they didn't put no dogs on me, they didn't rob me of my nationality, rape and kill my mother and father.

There are plenty of videos on YouTube of Ali's comments about the draft.

Elon Musk Says Tesla Nearly Ready To Deliver Self-Driving Car
Musk has previously said the software will "never be perfect" and is not created to replace human control of a vehicle. Troubled electric-car maker Tesla may be set to deliver new, fully autonomous vehicle features later this summer.

The U.S. Department of Justice says, in general, it does not accept applications for posthumous pardons because its time can be better spend on living persons. It's not a leap to connect that to the National Football League anthem protests that Trump has maligned. That hasn't muted Trump's criticism of the players. "We're looking at them", Trump said. "I don't like that". "I have an absolute right to pardon myself", he said, but doesn't need to do that because he did nothing wrong.

"We have 3000 names. many of those names have been treated unfairly", he said. He'll have a committee will look at those recommendations.

- President Donald Trump, speaking to reporters Friday. It is now languishing on Capitol Hill while a bill that does not change those rules has passed the House.

It's safe to say that President Trump is throwing a pardon party.

Earlier this week, Trump commuted the sentence of Alice Marie Johnson, a woman serving a life term for nonviolent drug-related offences, after meeting with reality television star and socialite Kim Kardashian West to discuss the case.

"I'm thinking about somebody that you all know very well".
