Furious Scots walk out of United Kingdom parliament over Brexit

The prime minister's spokesman said: "That sort of stunt effectively means that the SNP members who were down on the order paper to ask the PM questions can't represent their constituents".

SCOTTISH Nationalist MPs stormed out of the Commons after their Westminster leader was expelled by Speaker John Bercow.

Blackford, the SNP's Westminster leader, called for a vote after lambasting the way in which the section of the EU Withdrawal Bill pertaining to devolved powers was rammed through parliament on Tuesday [12 June], with only 15 minutes of debate and no Scottish MPs being called to speak.

The SNP claim the EU Withdrawal Bill opens the door for a Westminster power grab which takes away from the Scottish Parliament and undermines devolution.

"My job, my colleagues' job is to stand up for the powers of the Scottish Parliament".

"Yet, last night, she pressed ahead with a power grab in direct opposition to Scotland's elected parliament".

Ian Blackford dismissed suggestions the move was a stunt and insisted he had a right to highlight the "outrageous" actions of Theresa May's Government over Brexit.

"Having broken constitutional convention and plunged Scotland into a constitutional crisis, will the prime minister now commit to bringing forward emergency legislation so that the will of the Scottish Parliament can be heard and more importantly respected?"

He estimates that over a million people live in the greater Hodeidah area which is expected to be targeted in the offensive. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday called on all parties "to honour their commitments to work with the UN".

"People in Scotland will reflect very carefully on what has happened over these last 24 hours", Mr Blackford said.

Mr Bercow said he was suspending the party leader for the rest of the day following his "repeated refusal" to take his seat when told to do so. "It is a democratic outrage".

"Resume your seat", Bercow yelled repeatedly, before demanding that Blackford be thrown out.

"The Prime Minister gave a commitment that she would treat Scotland as part of a "union of equals". This will haunt the Scottish Tories for a generation'.

As we approach this time of critical challenge and change, the people of Scotland will have heard loud and clear that it is the SNP who are standing up for Scotland, for their interests. "It is not acceptable".

Moments later, Nicola Sturgeon tweeted she was "right behind" her party's MPs.

Tempers flared after time ran out for debate on the EU (Withdrawal) Bill on Tuesday night as MPs were set to consider what the SNP has termed a "power grab" by Westminster over responsibilities returning to the United Kingdom from Brussels. He added: "Disappointed, if not surprised, that if they really felt so strongly about it, they chose a stunt over holding the Government to account".
