Patty Jenkins Unveils A Surprise Returning Character In WONDER WOMAN 2

While the movie's Cold War setting had already been confirmed, this is the first official news of Pine's involvement (which was first rumoured last year), with Jenkins also revealing the movie's title and a first look image.

Jenkins, together with Gal Gadot, dropped the first images from Wonder Woman 2 today which promptly starts production in Washington, D.C., Alexandria, VA, and in the UK, Spain and the Canary Islands.

BURBANK, Calif. - Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman's next big screen adventure finds her facing an all-new foe: The Cheetah.

Wonder Woman 1984 is the follow up to the 2017 sensation that grossed $822 million at the box office and received widespread critical acclaim.

Chris Pine's Wonder Woman character Steve Trevor dies in World War I. She has tapped Kristen Wiig to play the villain Cheetah and "Narcos" star Pedro Pascal for an unspecified role.

Images like these are, of course, meant to set internet chatter ablaze, and we can only speculate as to how Steve Trevor's made a return and how he's landed in the 1980s.

Additionally, Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder are still involved as producers on the film alongside Jenkins, Gadot, Charles Roven, and Stephen Jones.

Gadot tweeted out a photo of herself on set, with just the words "Wonder Woman 1984". Oscar-nominated editor Richard Pearson ("United 93") will cut the film. Jenkins shared a first look at the star from the sequel, which will hit theaters on November 1, 2019.
