Raccoon captivates internet with Minnesota skyscraper climb

On the street below, an onlooker thought "Wally" would make a good name for overly ambitious mammal, though Minnesota Public Radio employees - who work across the street - promptly created a hashtag "MPRracoon", which caught on.

- A raccoon got itself into quite a predicament as it scaled a tower in St. Paul Minnesota. As of just before 4:30 p.m., it was resting 23 stories up.

For hours on Tuesday, Twitter users followed the exploits of the daredevil free-climbing raccoon.

The building emblazoned with the logo of the UBS bank is next door to the MPR offices in St Paul, Minnesota, leaving the public broadcaster with a clear view of the ascending mammal, NPR reported.

Then it started to climb.

Warriors' Durant hints at retirement -- when he's 35
As last year's "burner" Twitter account incident showed, Durant doesn't just let words wash over him. "I'm so excited to coach you again next year".

There is a live trap on the roof of the building with some very aromatic cat food they hope will lure the raccoon to safety. The saga has also invited plenty of Marvel jokes, specifically with people weighing in that the raccoon is secretly Rocket, either not handling the tragic events of Avengers: Infinity War particularly well or doing his best to campaign for his own standalone movie.

At the 23rd floor, it stopped for a nap, allowing time for more photos.

The Fire Department has been trying to rescue it, but with the raccoon stuck on the outside of the building there's not a lot they can do given that the windows don't open.

The video above, shown by raccoon watcher @manchelster was one of many to hit the internet.

As night descended on St. Paul, the raccoon appeared to start climbing down, before reversing course.
