'The Shining' Sequel Casts Ewan McGregor as Danny Torrance

In the novel, Danny Torrance, the young son of Jack and Wendy Torrance in The Shining, is a grown adult and still dealing with his abilities that he first experienced at the Overlook Hotel.

Sources say King has given his blessing to McGregor's casting.

McGregor has had a pretty distinguished acting career, appearing in over 50 titles including films like Trainspotting, Moulin Rouge, and Star Wars Episodes I through III; now he'll reportedly be adding The Shining sequel to that list.

It remains to be seen if this film will serve as a standalone movie that acknowledges the storyline of The Shining or if it will in fact be a sequel to Stanley Kubrick's 1980 horror classic, which was also distributed by Warner Bros. McGregor will play the adult version of Danny Torrence, the terrified tot plagued by psychic powers who you probably remember best for screaming "Redrum" while he watched his father descend into a murderous rage.
